A Major Step for Cycling Trails- The Future Trails of Ft Ord Planning Group

The beautiful sight of a open trail near the Pacific Ocean....
Monterey County's decision makers meet regarding future trail use....
B.L.M.'s top man for Ft. Ord, Eric Morgan speaks...
Brain storming idea's for future trails with Army brass...
Going over trail use with Olympian runner Blake Russell.....

This group meeting was a major get-together of all the present & future land controllers of the former Army base at Ft Ord for the purpose of future trail use in this area. It was very important to continue the dialog with the local officials concerning the cycling issues that this area faces in the present and in the future. The County was represented, as well as the Parks department, the Army, future Parcel Controllers, F.O.R.A., B.L.M., M.O.R.C.A., the Monterey Bay Youth Group, M.P.C., B.E.T.A., C.C.C.X., and a host of other trail users.

A Day Negotiating Trail Access & Improvements

Today I was in negotiations with the Senior Monterey County Park Ranger from Toro Park going over proposed trail improvements for the County Park. The Ranger was very opened minded and had some excellent suggestions as to further development of new trails and maintaining current trails.
Looking forward, this trail improvement project will require lots of time and effort. Yet the benefits to Toro Park would be huge for all trail users, especially cyclists. This is a project I have to keep focused on, and take the time to do it right. After a few years, Toro County Park could be a bicycle paradise if things go just right!

Selection

It was quite the honor to be selected as part of the GT DIRT COALITION program for 2009. Mountain Biking, and Cycling in general, are a way of life for me. Representing the GT DIRT COALITION is super motivational. I want to ride the GT BIKES fast, and work hard to be the best I can to show off Mountain Biking in a positive way.
It will be a pleasure to race on, train on, and introduce the awesome products of GT BICYCLES to other Northern California cyclists.

Thanks GT for giving me this opportunity to be a part of the team!
